British counter-terrorism officers have seized two young children from a "jihadi" mother who recently returned from Syria via Turkey, reports say.
The youngsters, believed to be under ten, were taken into police protection at Luton airport last week after travelling to Britain from Istanbul with their 25-year-old mother.
According to a report by Daily Mail, this is “the first case in which authorities have seized children from their parents over fears they were being radicalized.”
The Home Office urged nurseries to screen toddlers for “extremist views.”
The mother was accused of having links with Takfiri militants operating in Syria, and according to the British officials was detained “on suspicion of terrorism offences.”
This came after British Prime Minister David Cameron said any British national considering traveling to fight along with the ISIL group in Iraq and Syria will be treated as "an enemy of the UK."
"You have declared your allegiance, you are an enemy of the UK and you should expect to be treated as such," said Cameron.
At least 500 Britons are believed to have joined the Takfiri terrorists in Syria and Iraq over the past two years. In addition, the British government says 250 others have already returned to the UK.
The ISIL terrorists currently control parts of Syria and Iraq’s northern and western regions, where they have been committing heinous crimes, including the mass execution of civilians and Iraqi security forces.
Britain has played a major role in fanning the flames of turmoil in Syria by supporting militant groups operating to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
